    電子情報通信学会論文誌, The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, J-93D, 3, 345-354, Mar. 2010, Peer-reviwed, 非観測データを含む画像系列から射影復元を行う方法を述べる.画像系列中の非観測データには部分行列の因子分解から得た断片的な復元を統合することにより対処する.断片の統合法としてTardifらのカメラ基底拘束条件(Camera Basis Constraints,CBC)を再定式化し,問題のサイズが統合する断片の数に依存しない一般化固有値問題による解法を導く.この定式化はもとの問題と同一の解を何ら近似を用いずに効率的に計算することが可能である.最後に提案法の有効性を実験的に検証し,提案法が計算量を削減する工夫を行った種々の反復的な因子分解法よりも計算量の意味で実用的な構造復元が行えることを示す.

    電子情報通信学会論文誌, The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, J-92D, 8, 1403-1413, Aug. 2009, Peer-reviwed, 複数の画像を張り合わせて1枚の広い視野の画像を作成することを画像モザイク生成といい,コンピュータビジョンの分野で古くから研究されている.従来の方法は人混みのシーンを撮影した画像など,画像間で移動物体が存在している場合を考慮しておらず,位置合せや画像合成を困難にしていた.本研究では,移動物体が存在している領域をEM(Expectation-Maximization)アルゴリズムを用いて除外し,画像の輝度こう配を利用した位置合せ法により画像間の適切なHomography(射影変換)行列を推定する.また,画像の合成にはグラフカットを用いてエネルギー最小化問題を解き部分的な前景を除去した画像生成法を改善する.そして,実際に移動物体が存在している画像に対して提案した位置合せ手法がロバストにHomography行列を推定し,移動物体が多数存在している場合にも背景画像を生成できることを示す.

    電子情報通信学会論文誌, The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, J92-D, 4, 491-500, Apr. 2009, Peer-reviwed, 画像系列間で追跡された特徴点座標の軌跡から因子分解法による射影復元を行い,自己校正によって相似復元を達成する手法について記述する.非観測データを含む画像系列からの射影復元が可能な因子分解法の解法として最小二乗法における交互法を用いる.射影復元はabsolute dual quadricの拘束による自己校正法によって相似復元に更新される.更に,因子分解法での射影復元に特徴点の画像座標の信頼性を反映させる工夫とabsolute dual quadricの特異性制約を考慮した自己校正の線形解法を提案する.最後に,合成データと実データによる実験によって提案手法の有効性を検証する.この結果,提案法が二次型の重みを導入したBundle Adjustmentをよく近似できること,更に,ある程度の不確かさを含んだ重み行列に対してもよく機能することを示す.また,自己校正法の特異性制約が正則な双対二次曲面をabsolute dual quadricと誤認することの回避に一定の効果があることを示す.

    Transaction of IEE of Japan, The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, 122, 3, 158-165, Mar. 2002, Peer-reviwed, A new visual method with log-polar imaging geometry is proposed for tracking an object that translates in three dimensional space. The log-polar mapping is a popular model for space-variant sensing in computer vision, and is efficient in data reduction so that a tracking system can work with real time operation. An active camera with three degree of freedom (pan, tilt and zoom) is used to track the object and the log-polar mapping of images is performed with software computation, in which we can change the conversion parameters. In the log-polar coordinates, the lateral component of the object’s translation varies sinusoidally, while the longitudinal motion component along the visual axis is reduced to rather simpler translation. These motion components can be estimated in sub-pixel order of accuracy by detecting the phase difference of the complex wavelet transforms of the converted image sequences. By using a commercially available PC without additional peripheral equipment, the pursuit of a moving planar object can be executed in the rate of 10 or 15 frames/sec.

    TRANSDUCERS '01: EUROSENSORS XV, DIGEST OF TECHNICAL PAPERS, VOLS 1 AND 2, SPRINGER-VERLAG BERLIN, 1650-1653, 2001, Peer-reviwed, A bionic sonar for detecting a moving object in invisible environments and a foveated sensor for tracking a target in visual scenes have been studied in relation to biologically motivated sensing systems. In the bionic sonar a linear period-modulated (LPM) signal is designed to mimic the location sound of the big brown bats, whereas the foveated sensor with a log-polar mapping (LPM) yields a mock architecture of the spatial distribution of the retinal ganglion cells. The close similarity between these sensing systems is described with reference to the arrangement of sensor elements.

  • Simultaneous estimation of range and velocity by a biomimetic sonar system

This system emits linear-period-modulated (LPM) sound that has the time-frequency structure similar to that of echolocation sound utilized by typical echolocating bats. The echoes reflected by objects are processed using a bank of constant-Q (CQ) filters, which mimicks the frequency selectivity in the mammalian auditory periphery. In this system, each filter that composes the CQ filter bank is followed by a number of phase-detecting modules, and each module evokes a pulse in response to a specific phase value of sound stimuli. The ensemble response of all the modules reaches a maximum at a time corresponding to the object's range, and the phase value at the maximum yields information on the object's velocity. The precision in one-dimensional motion measurements performed in air was better than 50 mm/s in velocity and 0.2 mm in range though the LPM sound used in the measurements had a relatively small time-bandwidth product. A conventional sonar system with up-chirp signals did not yield reliable results because of its inherent ambiguity in simultaneous parameter estimation.

A remarkable feature of this method is the simple structure and rapid response of optical parallel processing. However, there remains a serious problem that no signal is obtained if the characteristic frequency is not contained in spatial frequency components on the object's surface. In order to overcome this problem, pitch of the spatial filter must be adjusted to match the spatial frequency characteristics of the object's surface. But it is difficult to change the shape of the parallel slit reticle of the conventional spatial filter.
    In this paper, we propose an electronic spatial filter utilizing an imaging device and full digital circuits. Various shapes of weighting function of spatial filter can be easily realized by this approach. A dual spatial filter having orthogonal sinusoidal weighting function is implemented. Its output can be utilized to sample a spatial frequency component out of the object surface.
    An intelligent velocity sensing system is fabricated. It can evaluate the matching of filter performance with its object and adjust the reticle pitch automatically to meet change in the characteristics of the object surface. Features of this system is proven by experiments.
