    日本の古典文学（奈良時代、平安時代）の言語を主たる研究課題としています。私としては、特に語学・文学の別は意識していません。これまでの中核的な業績は、博士論文及び著書ということになりますが、そこでは、古代日本語を対象に、事実・非事実・反事実のどこかに跨って事態を構成することのある言語形式を論じました。そのほかに、現代日本語と台湾中國語の対照研究や、音韻・音声などの分野にも研究領域を広げつつありますし、今後はより直接的に「文学」にも取り組む予定です。

    日本語の研究, The Society for Japanese Linguistics, 7, 1, 16-31, 01 Jan. 2011, Peer-reviwed, There are some examples of rentaikei endings and rentaikei+yo endings with mu, ramu, or kemu (the mu-type auxiliary verbs) in the predicate position to express speculation or preference. These are divided into the following two categories. Category 1: Expressing a future situation unrelated to speculation or preference regarding the language agent. Category 2: Expressing an existing situation that is inconsistent with the expectation of the language agent. The future situation given in Category 1 exists only in the imagination of the language agent. In contrast, the language agent in Category 2 is confused by the situation that differs from expectations and imagines its existence once again. From the above, we conclude that these mu-type auxiliary verbs in Categories 1 and 2 have the function of "imagining a situation existing in the real world" (conceptualization).

  • 才さかし出ではべらむよ －「紫式部日記」の一文 -

    言語情報科学, 東京大学大学院総合文化研究科言語情報科学専攻, 8, 8, 17-32, 31 Mar. 2010, Peer-reviwed, 『紫式部日記』の「才さかし出ではべらむよ」という一文(「当該箇所」と称する)について、「さかし出づ」と「むよ」の実例を調査し、以下の結論を得た。まず、当該箇所に見られる「さかす」は、「【才】を盛んな状態にする」意である。さらに、それが「出づ」と複合した結果、「【才】を【さかす】ことによって、【才】が表に【出づ】」という構造を成す。したがって、「才さかし出づ」とは、「才知を盛んな状態にすることによって、その才知が表に現れる」の如く解釈するのが適当である。一方、述語にムヨを持つ文には、言語主体の、「自身の当然とするところから外れた事態が、未来時において避けがたく生じてしまう」という判断を表す例があり、当該箇所も、その一つと見られる。以上を総合するに、当該箇所とは、「宮中で才知を働かせて、それが人の知るところになる」という事態は、謙抑を当然とする自分本来の姿からは外れているけれど、その事態がこの先に生じてしまうことは避けがたい、と嘆息する文である。そして、この解釈は、当該箇所に続く『紫式部日記』全体の文脈と調和している。
