The control system works every place in the society, including power source, factory, building, home, and so on. The controllers are connected to Internet through an engineering tool on a general O/S, for example Windows. Therefore, vulnerability of the general O/S and the tool may become that of controller. STUXNET attacked this security hole in 2010. Security Task Force is made by METI in 2011. And Control System Security Centre established in 2012 succeeds the work of the TF.

    PROCEEDINGS OF THE 2010 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON WAVELET ANALYSIS AND PATTERN RECOGNITION, IEEE, 381-385, 2010, Peer-reviwed, This paper presents an analysis and a visualization method of vital signals of a passenger, during engine idling. The idling signal is analyzed and suppressed in order to detect a pulse caused by heartbeats and make them visible by wavelet analysis. The measured vital signal is contaminated with an engine idling signal, and it is needed to be separated in a time-frequency band by using wavelet transformation. This paper also proposes a visualization method of 18 channel vital signals with wavelet analysis. An experiment result shows effectiveness of the proposing analysis and method.

  • Study on active vibration control for high-speed elevators

Therefore, several active suspension systems have been developed to reduce these vibrations. These systems have six actuators that independently activate guide rollers. To reduce costs and installation tasks, it is necessary to develop a system with a minimum number of actuators and a simplified controller. We have developed a new system that has only three actuators. The controller incorporates an H-infinity control design method in order to consider the stability of the system during any change in load. Furthermore, from a practically view point, it is important to reduce the order of the controller so that on-site parameter tuning time can be reduced. We reduced the H-infinity controller to a P controller. We demonstrated that the maximum amplitude of vibrations of a car with control can be reduced to almost half the amplitude of a car without control.

  • An Implementation of Continuous-Time Deadbeat Control

    ASCC: 2009 7TH ASIAN CONTROL CONFERENCE, VOLS 1-3, IEEE, 1222-1227, 2009, Peer-reviwed, This paper presents an application of the continuous-time deadbeat control, which is proposed recently based on the finite pole assignment for linear systems with time delay. The control object used here is a carriage, which is build with LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT as a model of crane for LCD manufacturing line. The implementation includes modeling, design, and implementation for a cheap microprocessor for the controller. A comparison with PID control is also shown here.

In this scheme, the RPF for path planning has a different magnitude at each direction of a RPF based on the angle between a goal and an obstacle, unlike a conventional RPF in which the same magnitude at each direction is obtained. In doing so, the RPF attempts to overcome some of the typical problems that may arise with the conventional RPF In particular, this paper presents a set of analyses for designing potential functions to avoid local minima for a number of representative scenarios. Specifically, the following cases are addressed: (i) a non-reachable goal problem (a case in which the potential of the goal is overwhelmed by the potential of an obstacle), (ii) an obstacle collision problem (a case in which the potential of the obstacle is overwhelmed by the potential of the goal) and (iii) a narrow passage problem (a case in which the potential of the goal is overwhelmed by the potential of two obstacles). The proposed RPF scheme eliminates the non-feasible area for the three cases by the help of an angle-varying magnitude between a goal and an obstacle. The example results show that the proposed RPF scheme can effectively construct a path-planning system with the capability of reaching a goal and avoiding obstacles despite possible local minima.

  • Local path planning using a new artificial potential function composition and its analytical design guidelines

In this scheme, the APFs for path planning have a multiplicative and additive composition between APFs for goal destination and APFs for obstacle avoidance, unlike conventional composition where the APF for obstacle avoidance is added to the APF for goal destination. In particular, this paper presents a set of analytical guidelines for designing potential functions to avoid local minima for a number of representative scenarios based on the proposed framework for path planning.   • Development of robust motor servo control for rear steering actuator based on the two-degree-of-freedom control system

    MECHATRONICS, PERGAMON-ELSEVIER SCIENCE LTD, 10, 1-2, 53-66, Feb. 2000, A rear steering system can improve vehicle stability by actively controlling the rear wheel angles, For designing the rear steering system, environmental conditions, performance deterioration due to aging and component variation as a result of manufacturing tolerance under mass production must be taken into consideration. We have applied two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) feedback control with feed-forward control for the motor servo control so that the rear steering actuator can track the target rear steering angle accurately and stably. The control system is designed based upon a nominal mathematical model and its variation range.
    As a result, the rear steering actuator can be controlled with excellent performance and high reliability. This paper describes the mathematical model construction in the frequency domain and a robust motor servo controller design based on 2DOF feedback control with feed-forward control. Decentralized control, which stabilizes rite interconnected subsystems by means of local feedback control, is considered to have more failure tolerance than centralized control system do. This paper introduces a mathematical model of a decentralized adaptive control and analyzes the fault tolerance of the decentralized adaptive control system, in which an intelligence is distributed as local adaptive controllers.

  • MODEL-REFERENCE LEARNING CONTROL FOR NONLINEAR-SYSTEMS

The nonlinearity is estimated through trials, which start at a same initial condition. The control input is generated on the basis of the estimates, so as to force the output of the plant to follow the output of the prespecified reference model which is driven by an arbitrary bounded command input. Unlike model reference adaptive control, this controller can cope with nonlinearity because the controller estimates optimal values of tunable functions, adding to parameters. Moreover, the command input can be varied through trials since nonlinear functions included in the model reference controller are adjusted through trials, whereas the repetitive learning controller cannot, since it estimates the control input directly. Convergence of the following error is analysed theoretically and is verified by a simple numerical simulation on a one-pivot manipulator.

  • STABLE MODEL-REFERENCE ADAPTIVE-CONTROL FOR PERIODICALLY LTV SYSTEMS BASED ON THE MAXIMAL ERROR EVALUATION

    INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CONTROL, TAYLOR & FRANCIS LTD, 58, 1, 51-64, Jul. 1993, This paper presents a model reference adaptive control system (MRACS) which does not depend on the degree of the plant when the plant is the continuous-time periodically linear time varying (LTV) system. A priori information is only the relative degree and the time-varying period. The controller has adjustable scalar functions. The optimal functions of these are estimated directly, synchronizing with the time-varying period of the plant by adaptive laws. The main contribution of this paper is that the computational burden of the adaptive law for the direct function estimation is reduced. It is accomplished with the maximum normalized error evaluation typed adaptive law. The design method and the global stability analysis of the proposed system are shown and a simple numerical simulation result is indicated to verify the viability of the proposed system.
